Review - The Grand Budapest Hotel
This Hollywood Farce is in the true Carry On tradition. The blue humour would be shocking if it were not so funny. The accents of the cast are equally humourous. Pastiches of James Bond Movies and The Great Escape add to the hilarity of the film. The visual art jokes that run through the film are beyond words. From the blue screen snow shots to the Beardsley print, feast your eyes on visual humour on a Hollywood scale. Costumes, cardboard sets; artificiality is the name of the game; failure to recognise it and the joke is on us. Structurally Ralph Finnes was a tour de force. Enjoy this film on many levels. Worth a second viewing, if not more.
